The first 3 projects below were assignments that included removing all existing audio and replacing the foley as well as any music, if desired. These 3 projects were among my best effort in that capacity. More detail is provided on the right of each project.
PROMETHEUS
I wrote a new set of sounds for his scene and all were created through Logic Pro and then mixed on a 5.1 Surround Board and ProTools through school. I wanted to keep the “spaciness” of what had been created and just change it enough to noticeably different from what had been released. I especially love the electronic “buzz” I was able to achieve to the flute-playing Engineer at 1:10.
DEAD ISLAND
Similarly to the previous assignment, we were to strip out anything that existed on the project of choice and replace it with either original or pre-recorded foley including any music that we decided to use. I wrote the tune attached to this song as a song concurrently to beginning work on the video, and soon realized that the “mood” somewhat fit – crazy zombies just rolling along, being aloof and somewhat awkward. Music was written in Logic Pro and mixed in ProTools. It has since been appended with a new ending which elongates the song and it will have vocals added.
FRACTAL COMPOSITION
We were challenged to write a new composition for a soundtrack to a Fractal Graphic video. This was my composition done completely in Logic Pro.
BOBBY NOBODY “STITCHED UP”
For this next project, I mixed a 48 multitrack recording down to 2-track stereo on a pop tune. This was a project available to us among many multitrack selections; it seemed to fit both my natural groove in style and I later mastered the project as heard here.
ORIGINAL MUSIC AND COVERS
‘NIGHTWIND’
“Nightwind”
I envision this song as a movie theme or television theme song even. It will eventually have lyrics so I will let the listener decide what the theme means. For now it remains an instrumental.
COVER SONGS
“Eye In The Sky” and “Danny’s Song”
I have recorded many cover songs in my time as a musician and singer, but these are two of my favorites, so they got complete studio treatment. The first is a note-for-note recreation of Alan Parson’s awesome “Eye In The Sky” and the 2nd is a rendition (also close to the original) of Kenny Loggin’s excellent tune, “Danny’s Song”. I hope you will enjoy these efforts.
